“Prototype P2-24” Presentation

The project “EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia” is implemented by UNDP in cooperation with the Embassy of Sweden and the European Investment Bank (EIB), with technical and financial support from the European Union and in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, with additional financial resources provided by the governments of Sweden, Switzerland and Serbia (https://www.undp.org/sr/serbia/projects/eu-za-zelenu-agendu-u-srbiji).

Digitalleather doo start-up is one of the 18 winners of the co-financing grant. The name of the approved project is in English “Improving the utilization of industrially processed animal leather through the application of artificial intelligence – 00136377/00127312/2023/26”. The project was signed on 13.12.2023.

The project was successfully implemented in 3 phases in the total duration of 13.12.2023. until 15.11.2024. year. In the first phase of the project, we acquired the equipment necessary for the production of the Prototype P2-24 chamber and the equipment necessary for the production of the Artificial Intelligence model. For the development of the Computer Vision model, we have acquired NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, which is currently the most powerful graphics card in NVIDIA’s offer. In the long phase of the project, we developed the hardware of the Prototype P2-24 as well as the module for controlling the dimensions of cut parts and defects using Artificial Intelligence. The chamber P2-24 has dimensions of 1000 x 1000 x 1300mm, it is completely closed type, and digitalization is done using a GUI specially developed for the management of the chamber, which the operator can use via a touch screen.

In the third phase of the project, we developed a completely new Computer Vision model for detecting, classifying and segmenting defects on industrial leather based on the YOLOv11 model that was released on September 30, 2024. We trained the models with 2400 data of defective skin, and we tested the final solution at AutoStop Interiors. Within this phase, we also published a scientific paper entitled “Enhancing Automated Defect Detection and Classification using YOLOv11: Case Study of Finished Leather industry”, in the journal Processes, which is on the SCI list (https://www.preprints.org/manuscript/202411.0239/v1).

We will present the results of the project at the “Prototype P2-24” presentation, which will be held on November 22, 2024. at 5:00 p.m. in the Presentation Hall, on the premises of the Business Innovation Center Kragujevac, at Trg Topolivaca 4. Representatives of the UNDP, who facilitated the implementation of the project, as well as representatives of the Fund for Innovation Activities of the Republic of Serbia, who facilitated the establishment of DigitaLLeather doo and the scaling of the technical solution, will be invited to the event. Relevant representatives from the industry will also be invited, mainly manufacturers of vehicle interiors such as YanFeng, Passubio SPA, SMP, and of course our partner company AutoStop Interiors doo. Local media will also be invited to the event, including Radio Television Kragujevac (RTK).
